£85m scheme to create homes at historic Watford Laundry Factory site
Residential developer Weston Homes has acquired Watford Laundry Factory in north west London for a mixed use scheme that will create 227 new homes.
Founded in 1907, the factory has a rich history as the launderer for The Old Bailey, Harrow School and several of London’s 5-star hotels.
The new development will comprise 227 apartments and penthouses over 162,000 sq ft, as well as a commercial facility, landscaped grounds and parking.
Work is scheduled to begin on the development in the autumn of this year with the sales launch expected in Spring 2020.
The acquisition in the laundry is the latest in a number of site purchases as part of Weston Home’s expansion plan. Bob Weston, chief executive of Weston Homes, explains: “Over the last six months the business has acquired 10 new sites including a series of major regeneration projects within Greater London.
“We now have a development portfolio of over 7,500 new homes with a completed value approaching £3 billion.”
