Green light for Reds expansion - five new members join salon team
REDS, one of Sunderland’s longest established and most respected hair and beauty salons, has taken on five new recruits to cope with increasing demand.
The salon, based in Cairnside, East Herrington, has recently re-opened on Sundays to keep up with a growing demand for appointments.
“The last few months have been really busy so we took the decision to re-open on Sundays, providing clients with an extra day of appointments, and also giving them access to our popular sun beds seven days a week. It was an important decision for us and obviously we’ve had to extend our team accordingly,” explained Reds owner Susan Hall.
“We take recruitment very seriously so took our time finding the right people with the right skills and the right attitude – and I’ve certainly been impressed with the new additions to our team,” she added.
The new recruits include two beauty therapists, Beckie Flanagan and Charley Gills; two new receptionists, Stacie Little and Jordan Galey, and an apprentice hair stylist, Ruth Bond. All five are from Sunderland.
Susan, a former UK Hairdresser of the Year, added: “We were really only looking for one beauty therapist, but Beckie and Charley interviewed so well and good therapists are very difficult to find, so we took them both on. They’re both fully Caci-trained which is important to us as the Caci non-surgical facelifts are increasingly popular with out clients.
“Taking on a new apprentices was also important to us as we’re keen to develop our own talent, working with apprentices to teach them ‘the Reds way.’ Our new additions have taken the team up to 19 and it’s exciting to be growing the team.”
Reds is a member of L’Oreal’s prestigious Portfolio group of hairdressers, recognised by the hair care giant for their creativity and expertise in the field of professional hairdressing. The salon has won L’Oreal’s regional Colour Trophy and a top award from Hair Magazine.
