UK’s second largest tech event in Leeds attracts global attention
Yorkshire’s largest digital sector event Leeds Digital Festival prepares for international visitors ahead of its official start date next month.
The biggest UK tech event of its kind after London Tech Week, the festival will host over 60 events and expects to welcome more than 20,000 attendees, including tech industry specialists from Europe, the US and south east Asia.
Festival director, Stuart Clarke, explained: “Leeds Digital Festival has grown rapidly in recent years to become one of the most significant digital events in the UK. Its reputation in the tech sector, like that of Leeds itself, has also grown internationally which we are seeing represented again in 2019.”
Keynote events already listed include Women in Leeds Digital, Super Connect Venture Lab for startups and the return of Code. Tech giants Amazon and Google are set to attend, collaborating with local firms to present the latest tech news and innovations.
Running from Tuesday 23rd April to Friday 3rd May, the festival has already generated business in the area ahead of its official opening, with local creative agency Tall partnering with the event as official sponsor and marketing strategist.
University of Leeds and Leeds City Council are the lead sponsors for the event, with other sponsors including BJSS, Crisp Thinking, Sky Betting and Gaming, law firm Womble Bond Dickinson, and the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership.
Adam Hildreth, founder and CEO of Crisp Thinking, added: “The Leeds Digital Festival has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and has put the spotlight on the incredible tech talent and innovation in the city.”
