Work begins on £130k Middlesbrough shopping centre refurb

The Dundas Shopping Centre is undergoing work on its Wilson Street entrance as part of plans to improve the site and increase the town’s leisure facilities..

Expected to last for eight weeks, the six figure refurbishment of the rear entrance to the building is designed to make the site more welcoming to shoppers as well as attract a new leisure operator to its vacant first floor space.

Formerly the Potter’s Club, the 12,000 sq ft unit sits at the rear of the Dundas mall in Middlesbrough town centre, and already has planning permission for class D2 uses such as a gym, bowling alley, events space or a sports bar.

Richard Wilson, senior associate at Dodds Brown, letting and managing agents for Dundas Shopping Centre and Indoor Market, explained: “There is a shortage of town centre leisure provision.

“These works will greatly improve the rear entrance to Dundas Shopping Centre and make it more welcoming to shoppers, office workers in Dundas House, and to prospective new tenants.”
