Everkool's Apprenticeship scheme praised by Mayor as 10 new trainees are signed up by aircon firm
Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has praised the founder of a major Merseyside air-conditioning company for his commitment to providing training and apprenticeship opportunities for school leavers.
Craig Greenwood, founder of air-conditioning and ventilation company, Everkool, signed up 10 new apprentices, who will be trained up as engineers by the firm, earlier this month.
Based in Bootle, the business is one of the North West’s leading suppliers of air conditioning and ventilation services and enjoyed significant growth in 2018, winning a string of contracts with organisations including Knowsley Council, Signature Living, Merseytravel and the Iliad Group.
Mr Greenwood has sought to give training opportunities to school leavers and young people who were brought up in care, every year since launching the company in 2008.
His commitment to providing the training, which will ultimately lead to full-time employment with the firm, has been commended by Mayor Anderson who invited Craig and some of the apprentices to the Liverpool Town Hall last week.
Mayor Joe Anderson said:
“Craig’s commitment to providing training and job opportunities to young people, including those who have been brought up in incredibly challenging environments, is fantastic. He is a brilliant example of a business leader who is investing in school leavers and equipping them with the skills for a lifetime of secure employment. I really do pay tribute to Craig and the entire team at Everkool.”
Craig Greenwood said:
“Our business growth in recent years has surpassed our expectations and so has afforded me the chance to expand our apprenticeship and training programme. I’m a firm believer in investing in young people, especially those who’ve had it tough growing up, to give them the skills to have a rewarding career and a good life. We’ve recruited 10 new apprentice this year and I hope to empty even more in the future.”
