Startup distillery partners with ‘King of the Red Carpet’ for York Fashion Week
York-born fashion designer Scott Henshall has paired up with local startup Cooper King Distillery to create a bespoke gin for York Fashion Week.
At a city-centre event tonight (March 26), Scott, dubbed ‘King of the Red Carpet’, will unveil the new gin, which has been made for the launch of the designer’s own Valour spirits brand.
Founded by Chris Jaume and Abbie Neilson in Sutton-on-the-Forest in North Yorkshire, Cooper King Distillery uses vacuum distillation to create its signature gins and whiskys.
Co-founder of Cooper King Distillery Chris Jaume said: “We’re proud to have collaborated with the king of fashion to create a bespoke gin which perfectly fits the Valour brand. We’ve had great fun creating a unique gin which articulates the luxury and courage which Scott’s Valour brand signifies.
“We have made use of local ingredients, including honey from our own beehives, and are incredibly excited to be launching a product that celebrates the best of York.”
The collaboration with the designer and former creative director of Mulberry has bolstered the profile of the startup distillery, which has already won several awards since its establishment in 2016.
Scott added: “Collaborating with great local talent and passionate businesses such as Cooper King Distillery is important to me. I’m excited to showcase the best of York on an international scale.”
