Dortech plans for expansion with launch of trade outlet
Huddersfield based aluminium glazing specialist Dortech has opened a new retail outlet to the public with an aim to reach £2m revenue in 12 months.
Following consistent growth of the firm’s online building supplies division Dortech Direct, the group has invested £45k in a new retail counter supplying tradesmen and the general public with building materials.
Situated on Old Fieldhouse Lane in Huddersfield, the 8,000 sq ft former fabrication unit has undergone a full refurbishment into a warehouse facility with public-facing storefront, stocking items such as glass lifting devices, silicone sealants, building membranes, adhesives and cleaning agents.
If the outlet proves to be a success and hits targets, the company plans to open additional depots as part of ongoing expansion plans.
Dortech managing director James Sutherland explained: “We have worked hard over the past year to better configure our architectural and maintenance divisions, and we’ve ploughed over £150k into new machinery, lighting and racking to take our capabilities to the next level.
“This is an exciting step that will take us from an online-only building supplies retailer to one with bricks and mortar space for the trade and general public. It’s a bold claim but I’d love to think we can become the ScrewFix of the glazing industry.”
