Newcastle's Business School receives 'top accreditation' seal of approval
Newcastle University Business School has again been approved by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).
This is said to be the highest standard of achievement in business education.
EQUIS is an international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration.
The fundamental objective of EQUIS is to raise the standard of management education worldwide. Its focus is on all management programmes offered by an institution from undergraduate level to PhD.
It is the fourth time that the Business School has received official accreditation from the body.
Professor Sharon Mavin, director of Newcastle University Business School, said: “We are delighted to once more receive this international recognition from EQUIS and be re-accredited.
“It is a testimony to the excellence of our research plus the high quality of our staff and students that we are among an elite group of business schools worldwide to have achieved triple accreditation.
“This strong endorsement of our work demonstrates our commitment to providing an exceptional education that gives students the skills and knowledge they need to make a positive impact on society.”
The school is also accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
In 2018, it celebrated 30 years of endorsement by the Association of MBAs (AMBA).
Awarding the endorsement, director of quality services and EQUIS, David Asch, said: “I would like to congratulate the Newcastle University Business School for a successful EQUIS re-accreditation.
“EQUIS accreditation ensures a rigorous quality improvement process, benchmarking the School against international standards in terms [including] governance, programmes, students, faculty, research, and foremost, internationalisation, ethics [and] responsibility.
“There are currently no substitutes for such an in-depth assessment of quality and all the schools should be commended for their commitment to excellence.”
