Suttons Tankers to take over chemical transportation at North East DHL site
DHL Supply Chain’s domestic bulk commodity chemical business has been acquired by international logistics specialist Suttons Tankers.
The deal will see Sutton Tankers acquiring the chemical transportation services of specific sites across the UK including Billingham in County Durham.
DHL will retain its services in packed chemicals, lubricants, bitumen and fuels.
Part of the international firm’s domestic expansion, the deal follows Sutton Tankers’ acquisition of Yorkshire based chemical waste business Bullard Ltd last year.
Managing director of Suttons Tankers, Michael Cundy, explained: “We see DHL’s bulk commodity chemical business as complementary to our existing offer and in line with our strategic commitment to this market.
“This acquisition shows Suttons’ continued commitment to the bulk chemical sector and the benefits of a national shared user-support network.”
Stuart Carlyon, DHL Supply Chain’s VP of operations industrial transport within network logistics & transport division, added: “We welcome this approach by Suttons Group.
“Like us, Suttons is a premium operator working in specialised logistics, utilising highly-skilled driver, workshop and support staff with an emphasis on safety and customer service.”
