£63m transformation project underway in London Borough of Brent

Construction has begun on the redevelopment of Minavil House in the London Borough of Brent.

The building will become the borough’s tallest tower at 27 storeys, and will be comprised of residential properties, office space and retail units.

Based in the Alperton Housing Zone, the £63m development will offer 251 homes, all with affordable rent or shared ownership.

Specific plans for the mixed-use development include a Lidl supermarket and canal-side cafe, as well as workspaces managed by R55 Workspace CIC for local entrepreneurs, artists and creators.

Peter Mahoney, Chief Executive of R55 Group, said: “Our plans will transform a vacant, two-storey commercial building into a vibrant community with something for everyone – affordable homes, affordable workspace, a supermarket and café next to the canal.”

With completion scheduled for 2022, the redevelopment is expected to help the London Borough of Brent to meet its ambitious growth targets.

Cllr Shama Tatler, lead member for regeneration, highways & planning at the London Borough of Brent, added: “We’re building a borough fit for the future and this redevelopment will make a great contribution to that.

“Like many boroughs, we need more homes for our residents and this 100 per cent affordable scheme is delivering 251 essential homes, along with affordable workspaces and job opportunities in Alperton.”
