County Durham engineering firm heads to US to boost international expansion
Engineering solutions provider M5tec is planning to break into the US market after securing a place at the world’s largest oil and gas conference in Texas.
The Newton Aycliffe based firm will be joining over 60,000 industry professionals at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in the city of Houston as part of its international expansion strategy.
Since being founded in 2014, M5tec trebled in size in its first three years, and hopes that by attending the conference it can make contacts and secure business leads on the first step to US expansion.
Natalia Maslowska, M5tec’s business development manager, explained: “OTC is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore resources and is taking place in Houston, which is itself a global hub for the oil and gas industry, so this represents a significant business opportunity for M5tec.
“We are one of the fastest growing and most dynamic companies in the North East and as such we are seeking to expand outside the UK, and exhibiting at OTC represents a firm commitment towards achieving this ambition.”
As part of its international strategy, the company is also a member of business development organisation NOF, which supports the supply chain across the global energy sector.
Caroline Lofthouse, NOF’s head of stakeholder engagement, said: “We fully support M5tec’s ambitions and are confident it can successfully grow the business within the US marketplace.
“Its involvement in OTC is an excellent way of highlighting and promoting the company’s expertise across a wide range of energy sectors to a whole new audience.”
