The Marketing Trust has partnered with Newcastle Business School to create a free toolkit to support regional SMEs.

B2B social media toolkit launches for North East SMEs

A new social media toolkit has been launched to help local SMEs effectively use social media in their B2B marketing.

Independent organisation The Marketing Trust has partnered with Newcastle Business School to create the free toolkit, informed by research outlined in the report ‘The role of social media in a business to business environment’.

Dr Julie Crumbley, associate pro vice-chancellor in the faculty of business and law at Northumbria University, explained: “The report responds to the growing appetite for businesses to gain a better understanding of social media marketing and the associated benefits.

“The B2B social media toolkit is a practical and easy to follow guide for anyone wanting to improve the effectiveness of their social media activity or a good starting point for any business that has yet to incorporate social media into their wider marketing plan.”

By making the toolkit and report available online free of charge, the project hopes to support SMEs across the region with the development of their B2B marketing strategies and growth of their businesses.

The toolkit has already been recognised by industry leaders, with Chartered Institute of Marketing CEO Chris Daly commenting: “Through collaborating on this important area of research, the Marketing Trust and Northumbria University have provided a valuable resource that will help our SME community to bridge the digital marketing skills gap.”

James Ramsbotham, North East England Chamber of Commerce CEO, added: “I welcome the Marketing Trust’s commitment to funding valuable research to bridge the knowledge divide and provide practical tools to support the success of the SME community.”
