Local crafter gifts Duke and Duchess of Sussex hand- made wedding album

Birmingham- based craft lover Sylvia Lawrence has created a hand- made wedding album for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which was presented to the Duke at Cannon Hill Park last month.

Sylvia, who crafts with Stampin’ Up! UK, created a wedding album for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after hosting a tea party to celebrate their nuptials in May 2018. The album, which was originally made for Sylvia’s elderly mother to remember the day, caught the attention of the Lord Mayor of Birmingham during a recent visit to Sylvia’s workplace, who offered to present it to the Duke during his visit to Cannon Hill Park.

Sylvia created a duplicate album to gift to the Duke and Duchess, which was accompanied by a mini baby album, made by her sister Sugar, for the couple’s soon- to- be new-born.

Sylvia first met the Lord Mayor through her work as a housing support manager, where she supports those with disabilities and mental health concerns to connect with the local community. Having crafted with Stampin’ Up! for ten years, Sylvia uses crafting as part of her job, to help clients unwind and de-stress, but also as a hobby outside of work.

Sylvia comments: “Having the chance to give Prince Harry the albums was so exciting. I feel a real connection to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the causes they support, so it’s really rewarding to know they can now enjoy the wedding and baby albums we’ve made.

“Crafting is a true passion of mine and crafting with Stampin’ Up! has allowed me to be part of a community that offers nothing but encouragement. Not only does crafting help me to relax, making cards and gifts is also really nice way to let someone know you care.”
