Tyne Group unveils new affordable homes in Blaydon
Housing provider, Tyne Group has completed a £700,000 investment project delivering seven brand-new one and two bedroom homes for affordable rent in Blaydon.
The development on Lucy Street is the first to be completed in Tyne’s development portfolio, which has seen the conversion of Clifford House - an empty care home in a prominent position of the town.
The project was delivered with Homes England contributing funding of £175,000 and has been designed and built by Blaydon-based company DJM Mechanical, working in partnership with Black & White Construction.
Each home has been designed to preserve the character of the building and retain some of the building’s historic features and streetscape around.
Steve McKinlay, CEO of Tyne Group, said: “This is a really exciting time for Tyne. We’re proud to be innovating our offer so that we’re able to provide more options for people to access modern, safe and affordable homes across the region. We’re incredibly pleased with the quality of this new development, which we’re sure will appeal to many different people who work or live in Gateshead.
“I would like to thank Homes England and all our partners for delivering a scheme that the people of Gateshead can be proud of.”
