Heathrow "remains a bright light" amid Brexit uncertainty with continuing record growth

Heathrow Airport has experienced record numbers for March for the 29th month running despite Brexit uncertainty.

Heathrow has reported attitudes towards travel “remain strong” in spite of the lack of clarity around Brexit, with over 6.5m passengers travelling through the airport last month.

A new service to Cornwall as well as the launch of an additional service to Inverness has seen domestic flights go up by 0.2 per cent.

In an ongoing trend, passenger numbers and cargo figures for Latin America continue to rise, as well as a passenger uplift for Africa of 5.8 per cent.

Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye commented: “Despite Brexit uncertainty, Heathrow remains a bright light for the UK, with the role we play in keeping people and products moving evident.

He continued: “Our new domestic connections will be pivotal in linking more regions and nations to global opportunities, benefiting all corners of this great country and we look forward to announcing many more of these as part of the expansion programme.”
