NatWest customers can now use biometrics as payment approval
Today (April 16), NatWest has launched a new biometric payment approval feature allowing customers to make payments using Face ID or Touch ID.
Business and commercial banking users will now be able to make a payment of any size through the Bankline Mobile app using one of these two IDs without the need for a card reader.
This is said to be the first release of such in the UK. The feature is also aimed at businesses wishing to authorise multiple users to setup payments, which can then be approved on the app.
James Holian, chief operating officer of commercial and private banking at NatWest, said: “We know that ease, speed and security are important to our customers, and that’s why we’re excited to be the first UK bank to offer biometric payments of any size, through our Bankline Mobile app.
“By offering unprecedented levels of security via three levels of unique authentication, as well as the ability to make payments of any size, we feel this is another important innovation that will make it easier for our customers to get on with doing what they do best: running their business.”
Think the whole process is rather dangerous? Well, NatWest has stated that customers will have to enter their six-digit Bankline Mobile Keycode before the transaction can be completed.
iOS users will be able to test out the new tech today, and Android and other platforms will follow suit later on in the year.
