NUFC teams up with Chamber of Commerce to boost regional growth
Newcastle United Football Club has teamed up with the North East Chamber of Commerce to maximise sport and leisure opportunities and attract investment to the region.
A spokesperson for Newcastle United explained: “The club is keen to develop partnership working across the North East to build on the successes we have had in recent years with events such as the Rugby World Cup and the Ed Sheeran concerts.
“St James’ Park is a huge asset and we look forward to working more closely with the Chamber and others to deliver even more benefits to the city and wider region.”
The club’s new partnership with the independent business organisation intends to showcase the value of major sporting events and activities in the North East in order to attract further investment and events to the region.
News of the partnership follows the publishing of a report by professional services giant EY, stating that the club’s activity contributed a total of £236m in Gross Value Added to the regional economy.
Jonathan Walker, the Chamber assistant director of policy, commented: “We are delighted to be working closely with Newcastle United FC as a partner member to build on its research into the financial benefits of having a club of its stature in the region.
“They offer us tremendous potential to bring tourism, leisure as well as business investment, to support our region’s growth.”
