Nicander Marks 10th Birthday in the Local Community

10 months of ‘ten’ themed activities are planned to celebrate a decade of success in the Intelligent Transport Systems Industry by Teesside firm Nicander.

Co-founded in 2009 by Nick Drew and Derek Lister, who gave their names to the business, Nicander’s initial contract was the development of a National Traffic Management System. The team were able to build on their reputation, and the awards obtained from their delivery of this contract, to achieve significant growth over the last 10 years, developing partnerships, acquiring new major contracts and recruiting more local employees along the way.

“Nicander remains a leader in our field.” said Derek Lister, a founder and director of the firm. “Our vision, to be our client’s preferred partner for the delivery of software systems solutions and services, is as relevant today as it was a decade ago.”

Many of Nicander’s customers have been with them for more than five years. They outgrew their original offices at Wynyard moving to larger premises on Billingham Belasis Park in 2014. Nicander is now a limited company with a turnover of around £3 million. They recently achieved Silver Partner status with Microsoft.

“Nicander is proud to celebrate this 10 year milestone, due in large part to the support we have received from our customers and the amazing dedication of every single member of the Nicander team.” said Mr Lister.

Nicander have always been keen to help their local community which has recently seen them provide funding for a young Billingham Ball Hockey player to become part of Team GB and donating to Billingham Foodbank.

’’We have supported our local community in a variety of ways over the years. To mark our 10 year milestone, and in keeping with the ‘ten’ theme, our staff have selected 10 local charities we will be donating to over the next 10 months.“ Mr Lister commented.

Other ‘ten’ focussed activities include a staff prize draw on the 10th of each month, a 10th birthday party and the design of a special 10th anniversary logo.
