Artisan bakery on the rise with second London site set to launch
Viennoiserie specialist Pophams Bakery is set to launch its London second site in Hackney next month.
Ollie Gold, founding director at Pophams Bakery, commented: “It is with great pleasure that we can reveal the location for our second artisan bakery, which heralds the exciting evolution of our concept.”
Situated at 197 Richmond Road, the 1,710 sq ft unit will showcase the artisan bakery’s pastries as well as featuring a pasta bar, with the option for customers to sit at a unique chef’s table and watch their baked goods and fresh pasta being made.
Founded in Islington 2017, Pophams Bakery specialises in artisan baking with a focus on viennoiserie and the use of locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
Speaking about the company’s expansion, Ollie added: “Since the opening of our first shop, which we developed from a derelict chemist, we’ve taken a hands-on approach with all aspects of the business and this has helped us go from strength to strength.”
Pophams Bakery was supported in its expansion by London property firm Shelley Sandzer, which secured the unit on behalf of the company.
Etai Page at Shelley Sandzer added: “Popham’s original site is a popular hang-out for Islington locals and it’s clear the bakery is truly fuelled by a passion for their craft.
“For the brand’s next step in expansion, location was key, and I think the diverse crowd in Hackney will be drawn to Pophams fresh new pasta offer. The concept required a larger space than their first bakery and this is a prime ground floor unit on Richmond Road.”
