CHUF challenges North East businesses to go head-to-head all in the name of saving little hearts
CHILDREN’S Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) is on the lookout for CHUF Champions in a bid to encourage North East businesses to take part in its fundraising partnership challenge.
The CHUF Champions Challenge launched in Spring 2018 with seven businesses competing to raise money to help fund life-changing equipment and services for the Children’s Heart Unit in the Freeman Hospital, and six district hospitals in the Northern region.
Charlotte Campbell, senior fundraising manager at CHUF, said: “The CHUF Champions Challenge is a great opportunity for businesses in the region to get involved with fundraising for CHUF in 2019. With a little friendly competition and a focus on team-building and improving staff skills, children will receive life-saving and live-changing support as well as businesses seeing a benefit for their employees’ motivation, focus and team support.
“From bake sales and fun runs to donation boxes and gala dinners, companies can go as small or as big as they wish when fundraising; all money raised will go towards supporting children who have cardiovascular problems and their families.”
Builders’ merchants JT Dove were the winners of the 2018 CHUF Champions Challenge, raising an astonishing £34,000 throughout the year through various activities and initiatives. Steve Robinson, managing director at JT Dove Ltd, said: “We took on the CHUF Champions Challenge last year to raise funds that would help children with cardiovascular issues within the North East and to commit to a common goal across the business.
“By taking part in the challenge, the team created a special bond through working together on the same objective which was fun both in and out of work. The challenge also helped our team’s motivational focus which was then applied to other work-related activities.
“As a business, I believe charitable giving is key; not only does it give your company a competitive edge, it also reaps in the positive ‘feel good’ factors across employees and customers.”
