Huawei "willing" to sign no-spy contracts from UK government

China’s Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd (Huawei) is “willing” to sign no-spy contracts with the government and other countries worldwide.

This is according to Huawei’s chairman, Liang Hua. The news follows on from pressing concerns that the telecoms group had been using its mobile products for surveillance, posing a huge threat for its customers.

Liang Hua told a business conference yesterday (May 14) that the company is “willing to sign no-spy agreements with governments, including the UK government, to commit ourselves to making our equipment meet the no-spy, no-backdoors standard.”

Huawei has been blocked from using some countries’ 5G networks following the allegations. It says it does not work alongside the Chinese government.

Both Australia and New Zealand have blocked the telecoms network, while the US has restricted federal agencies from using products linked to Huawei.
