Second phase of award-winning homes underway
Macclesfield is set for a boost of affordable homes with work starting on a new development on Green Street.
The scheme of eight three-bedroom homes and six one-bedroom apartments is being developed by Regenda Homes and is the housing provider’s second major build on Green Street.
Designed by Halsall Lloyd Partnership, the £2.1m scheme will be built by M&Y Maintenance and Construction.Completed last year, the first phase was recognised by the Macclesfield Civic Society for its high-quality design and build. Previously a depot site, the design drew inspiration from the traditional style terraced housing found in Macclesfield, including the incorporation of chimney light wells and made use of materials found across the town, such as red brick.
The two schemes on Green Street demonstrate Regenda’s commitment to developing on Brownfield sites.
Martin Davies, Director of Development at Regenda Homes, said: “We are very excited to be starting on our second phase of development on Green Street.
“The scheme will boost the affordable housing available in Macclesfield for rent but also help first timer buyers in the area get on the ladder via Shared Ownership.
“We had a very positive response to the design of our first properties on Green Street and we are hoping this scheme has a similar impact.”
Gill Kelly, Director of M&Y Maintenance and Construction, said: “The team at M&Y Maintenance and Construction are delighted to be building this scheme on behalf of Regenda Homes.
“The construction arm of our business is undergoing rapid growth and we are currently on site with a number of builds across the North West.
“I am looking forward to seeing the development progress over the coming months.”
