Gin specialist celebrates distillery purchase success with shop opening

North Yorkshire firm Harrogate Tipple has opened a retail shop at its newly acquired distillery in Ripley.

The opening of the vintage-style shop follows the firm’s purchase of the distillery and head office building from the Ripley Castle Estate earlier this week.

Founded in 2016 by husband and wife team Steven and Sally Green, Harrogate Tipple has been stocked in various bars and restaurants throughout Yorkshire, as well as attracting the attention of former Tanqueray distiller Tom Nichol who is now a partner in the business.

Commenting on the shop opening, Steven said: “The shop certainly reflects the personality of the brand, with an eclectic, fun and welcoming vintage feel, with glimpses of the gorgeous copper stills through the open shelves to allow customers to see us making the batches.”

The pair hope that the acquisition of the 4,000 sq ft property will boost the company’s long term expansion plans, including the growth of its corporate events business.

Co-founder Sally Green explained:“We are ambitious about building our following in the region by extending the retail sales we enjoy through many independent retailers, bars and restaurants.

“We’re also excited to have opened our own visitor attraction enabling customers to see the stills for themselves and find out more about the premium spirit-making process. Being able to visit the place where their tipple is created is a great step forward in our brand building.”
