Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing facilities now accessible to North East SMEs
The Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (SAM) Project is opening its doors to the region’s SMEs on Wednesday 22 May. Details of how to book a place are HERE.
SAM - based at the Industry Centre, Sunderland Enterprise Park’s – has recently seen £1m investment in equipment.
SAM’s purpose is to resolve problems and find solutions that will positively impact on advanced manufacturing businesses and the sector, right across the North East Local Enterprise Partnership area. The project is a £5.1m European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and University of Sunderland collaboration.
Through SAM, eligible businesses can access practical, research and financial support, through a range of activities focusing on innovation and product/process development, implementation of technology as well as research projects.
The Industry Centre’s facilities allow SMEs to work with the SAM team, to develop their products, create prototypes, resolve production issues and also understand how advanced technology can grow their business before they make any investment.
And, SAM has £800,000 of grant match funding available to businesses ready to invest. In addition to the launch event SAM will be scheduling fully-funded knowledge exchange events and weekly sandpit sessions throughout the year. Details of events, registration details and for grant expression of interest forms visit www.samprojectuos.co.uk.
SAM project product and process design specialist, Carl Gregg, and advanced maintenance and Industry 4.0 specialist, Gary Thompson, have created a series of short workshops to be held in June. These will cover: additive manufacturing technology; design; rapid tooling; fixture; advanced maintenance; and Industry 4.0 technology.
If you are an SME within the manufacturing industry across all sectors and would like more information or to make an appointment to visit the facilities contact our team by emailing sam.project@sunderland.ac.uk or call us on 0191 515 3111.
