Tees Valley Careers Hub secures government expansion

Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority has been successful in its bid to expand its Careers Hub.

The Secretary of State for Education has revealed that the Tees Valley hub will be one of two to be expanded, alongside the launch of 18 new hubs backed by a further £2.5m investment.

News of the expansion comes after the The Careers & Enterprise Company launched 20 Careers Hubs across England in 2018 to improve careers support for young people, connecting schools and colleges with universities, training providers, employers and career professionals.

While expansion will allow an extra 25 schools and colleges to join the programme, mayor Ben Houchen has pledged to extend this offer to all 70 educational institutions in the Tees Valley area.

Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen commented: “I’m delighted that the first phase of our Careers Hub has been so successful, and its fantastic performance demonstrates the dedication our teachers, businesses and training providers have in nurturing the next generation of local talent.

“Thanks to this expansion, which I am making available to each and every one of our schools and colleges, we can work even harder to give our students the best start on their route to high-quality careers while supporting our job creators and key sectors.”
