Taylor&Emmet takes on mountain-sized fundraiser

Staff from Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP are limbering up for a charity challenge that will see them attempt to climb the height of Kilimanjaro as many times as possible in one day.

The solicitors are pitting themselves against the brains of the University of Sheffield’s legal department and the brawn of the Mercure St Paul’s gym in a race to the virtual summit.

Held on Thursday (May 23) outside the Mercure Hotel in Sheffield, the ‘Climb the Height of Kilimanjaro’ challenge will raise funds for Paces, a local specialist educational centre for children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders.

Taylor&Emmet’s fundraising team comprises 19 members of staff from across most departments, led by clinical negligence specialist, Corinna Lincoln. She will be joining Paces chief executive, Spencer Pitfield, in Tanzania in September to climb the 5,895 metres up Kilimanjaro. Their endeavours will benefit the charity’s bid to raise £1 million to build a new facility in Sheffield, which the University’s architecture department has helped to design.

Corinna said: “I am hugely looking forward to our forthcoming fundraiser and want to thank everyone at the Mercure and University for showing such enthusiasm for the charity and the endurance challenge itself. Taylor&Emmet is home to a number of sporty staff but do we have what it takes to cover the most ground? Only time will tell!”
