Specialist bike retailer gears up for West Bromwich opening
A specialist cycle retailer is to open its 11th store in West Bromwich next week – with market-leading technology and innovations to help cyclists choose equipment to fit them perfectly.
Leisure Lakes Bikes, a family-owned business, will open its doors at Astle Retail Park after agreeing a 10-year lease with LCP, the national commercial property and investment company that owns and manages the site.
The 7,631 sq ft unit will comprise the main retail area, which will sell leading brands such as Specialized, Trek, Cube and Whyte, as well as electric bikes, accessories, parts and clothing; a fully equipped workshop offering repairs and servicing; and a bike fit and lecture room.
Tim Noy, director of Leisure Lakes Bikes, said the new store, which will be open seven days a week, will offer new and innovative services to its customers that are only just becoming available to the industry.
“We’re very excited to open the West Bromwich store, which is our second in the West Midlands,” he said. “This will be a pioneering concept store to help lead the way for our other stores. We’ll provide our customers with a unique in-store cycling experience, including revolutionary electronic technologies that will help customers to the perfect fit, for example choosing saddles and shoes.
“We’ll also have a Bosch ebike information centre, one of only five in the country. This is an interactive console, which will enable cyclists to plan rides and work out battery range for routes, simply by inputting bike style, battery capacity, motor, terrain and ride conditions. It also provides a wealth of information about the new breed of ebikes and their motors.”
When Leisure Lakes Bikes, West Bromwich is fully operational, it will create about 15 jobs, including retail staff and mechanics.
Barry Flint, LCP asset manager, said: “It’s great to have secured another fantastic retailer to come to Astle Retail Park. We have a superb range of shops here that are helping to bring in customers, which is also good news for West Bromwich.”
Astle Retail Park is located adjacent to West Bromwich town centre, just off the High Street, about five minutes’ drive from junction 1 of the M5. It comprises 20 units over 130,000 sq ft and a 300-space car park for shoppers.
