Clarion lawyer becomes member of Solicitors for the Elderly

Stephanie Parish, senior associate solicitor at Clarion, has become a fully accredited member of the national association Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE). Alongside her colleague, legal director, Clare King, Stephanie is one of just a handful of private client lawyers in Leeds to be accepted by SFE as an accredited specialist in older client law having successfully completed her assessments.

SFE is an association of lawyers which specialises in legal services for older people and their carers. Members of SFE have a wealth of experience within this key legal area and they are required to have spent a substantial amount of time working for elderly clients. The aim of this national association is to improve the knowledge and service provided on legal issues including, inheritance tax planning, wills, powers of attorney, court of protection, mental capacity advice, care fee advice, probate, trusts and elder abuse.

Stephanie said: “Having advised older and vulnerable clients for the last nine years, I appreciate the specialist legal services they need, from issues around wills and probate to tax planning and trusts. The training involved in being accepted by the SFE has been extremely valuable in extending my knowledge in this complex and growing area of the law as well as further developing my client care skills.

“What sets SFE members apart is our ability to communicate and translate legal expertise into clear, understandable advice, and to guide clients and their families through the process sensitively. Clare and I will be using our expertise to ensure we continue to provide first class legal advice to clients across the region.”
