Northallerton clothing supplier aims for international expansion with HSBC funding
A Northallerton-based workwear supplier is aiming for UK and overseas growth with a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK.
121 Workwear, established in 2013, is said to be experiencing an increase in interest from UK and EU customers for its branded workwear, uniforms and promotional clothing.
To meet demand, the business has utilised HSBC UK’s funding to purchase new embroidering machines and direct garment print equipment, as well as recruit eight new staff across production, customer service and web development.
AJ Swinback, managing director at 121 Workwear, said: “Fashion is changing and that means workwear is too.
“What sets us apart from our competition is our ability to add value through providing our customers with a premium experience and high-quality garments.
“HSBC UK’s support is hugely important in helping us respond to the increased demand we’re experiencing and is enabling us to grow in a way that is still sustainable for the business.”
The new machinery, coupled with a boosted workforce, is expected to raise production by 50 per cent in the next year.
In addition, the business is also investing in a new online sales platform to provide a more personalised experience to its customers in key markets including equestrian, construction and industrial sectors.
Connie Hill, relationship manager for North & West Yorkshire, HSBC UK, concluded: “It’s fantastic to see 121 Workwear experience this success and growth in what can be a challenging sector. AJ and his team have a strong understanding of their customers and we’re pleased to support the business as it responds to increasing demand.”
