Local disability charity benefits from community fund

A Bristol-based charity that supports adults with physical disabilities has benefitted from a local housebuilder’s donation.

Paul’s Place has been chosen as one of the recipients of the David Wilson Homes Community Fund, which was launched earlier this year.

The David Wilson Homes Community Fund donates £1,000 each month to a charity or organisation which improves the quality of life for those living in the region. The new initiative is part of the company’s pledge to strengthen its ties with the areas in which it is building new homes.

Paul’s Place is the only charity specifically supporting adults with physical, sensory and cognitive impairment in the Bristol area. The charity provides social interaction, physical, emotional and practical support to all its members.

Clair Armstrong, Fundraising and Public Relations Manager, said that as a small charity they really value the support from David Wilson Homes.

She said: “We need to raise £120,000 of voluntary income each year to continue to deliver the varied activities available to our members, so we would like to thank everyone at David Wilson Homes for their generous support.

“The services we provide are critical, providing a ‘lifeline’ to many of our members. Our approach is tailored to each person, promoting independence and life enhancing opportunities.”

Louise Ware, sales director at David Wilson Homes, said: “Paul’s Place provides a wonderful service for the local community and I am over the moon that we can help a small amount with this fund donation.”

Paul’s Place offers day facilities filled with fun and laughter, as well as an expanding programme of support for those who need it, as well as for their carers.

The David Wilson Homes Community Fund has already helped several local charities this year and will continue to support worthy causes throughout the south west. To apply for one of the monthly grants, email charitysw@dwh.co.uk with details of your charity or organisation and how the donation would benefit the local community and improve lives.
