Windmill Green awarded platinum cycle score
FORE Partnership’s Windmill Green is officially Manchester’s most cycle-friendly building after receiving a Platinum CyclingScore accreditation for its on-site facilities.
The 70,000 sq ft building, located on Mount Street in the heart of Manchester’s city centre recently reached practical completion and boasts Grade A flexible office space over seven floors.
The CyclingScore Certification rates buildings according to an official set of standards that determine a building’s cycle friendliness – standards have been developed in conjunction with industry professionals, travel planners, tenants, and executives in cycle orientated businesses.
After an in-depth certification process, Windmill Green was awarded Platinum status, the highest level of accreditation available. Occupiers choosing to cycle to work will have access to 40 secure bike parking spaces, 32 lockers, drying facilities, and luxurious shower and changing facilities.
Aurélien Collignon, Investment Director at FORE overseeing the redevelopment, said: “The building has made a name for itself as the most sustainable building in Manchester, boasting a BREEAM “Outstanding” rating among other credentials, and we’re delighted to now include this Platinum accreditation naming Windmill Green as the best building for cyclists in the city.
“It is our aim to create relevant and engaging workspaces. With a real focus on wellness globally at both occupier and landlord level, we felt it imperative to ensure we made it as easy as possible for tenants to get to and from work on any mode of environmentally friendly transportation they choose, and at the same time empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices.”
Windmill Green’s extensive list of facilities for cyclists include scooters which are free for tenants to use, a first for Manchester. FORE has also installed a Brompton Bike Hire dock, providing tenants and the wider public cost-effective rentals of the legendary folding bike.
The building is strategically located next to St. Peter’s Square in the city, close to public transport links and significant local amenity.
In addition to the CyclingScore certification and the BREEAM rating, Windmill Green has secured a WiredScore “Platinum” certification reflecting the excellence of its digital infrastructure, firmly anchoring the building as one of the most connected in the country. FORE also expects the building to receive Well accreditation in due course.
