Industry Giants Show Support for North East Supply Chain

A major conference will take place on Teesside next week and showcase the supply chain opportunities available with the world-leading, global organisations that call the North East their home.

Influential speakers representing global giants from Procter & Gamble, Sirius Minerals, Venator, Worley, FUJIFILM Diosynth and Sellafield will take to the stage at Wynyard Hall’s Grand Marquee on Wednesday 19th June and provide important industry updates.

Welcoming 600 guests and 100 exhibitors, the region’s chemical processing sector event of the year, organised by cluster company NEPIC, returns for its 9th year.

Guests will also hear from Tees Valley Combined Authority chief executive, Julie Gilhespie, about the recent developments at the former SSI steel works site.

The North East LEP will showcase the newly launched Supply Chain North East programme – and Peter Oram of Evolution MRO, will highlight simple solutions to complex supply chains.

In November 2018, Billingham-based FUJIFILM Diosynth announced plans for a world class bio-campus delivering life changing medicines to their customers.

Phillip Dale, Head of Engineering at FUJIFILM Diosynth, will take the audience on a journey of the North Site development.

Discussing FUJIFILM’s support of the event, Phillip said:

“It’s important for FUJIFILM to share our vision for the future, to inspire others as we play our part in the continued growth of our region.”

Sellafield is the UK’s most complex nuclear site. In 2016, they made a commitment to transform the site so that it is recognised as a leading nuclear enterprise and national asset.

Head of Supply Chain Development and Innovation, Emma-Jayne Gooch, will offer guests a broad understanding of the site and its ambitious plans for growth, along with details of the asset management challenge they face and of course, how to do business with them.

“For us to create a sustainable supply chain it is essential we take learning and innovation from other industries.” Said Emma-Jayne.

Along with future projects, the event will also provide guests with current investment updates.

The launch of tunnel-boring machine in April 2019 was yet another important step towards Sirius Minerals’ vision of building a $5bn fertiliser mine and becoming a world-leading producer of polyhalite.

Sirius Minerals continue their support of the conference and will share some of the construction and engineering solutions that are being developed in the project’s extraordinary environment, with particular emphasis on the Wilton site.

Leading global chemical company, Venator, have their HQ and a manufacturing presence on Teesside, where their team of experts focus on delivering pigments and additives that make a difference to daily life and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Venator President and Chief Executive Officer, Simon Turner, will showcase a business built on success, said:

In addition to two conference sessions and a 100-company strong exhibition, organisers also arrange unique one-2-one mentoring sessions.

Industry leaders from across the region will be on hand to assist attending companies, particularly SMEs, with advice on becoming suppliers to the sector, or enhancing existing relationships with clients.
