Creative firms find new home at Ex-Emmerdale mill
Two creative companies have moved into new premises at a former filming site for Yorkshire based TV shows Emmerdale and Heartbeat.
Situated between Leeds and Bradford, the Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley has become home to graphic design agency ICM Creative and SCRAP Centre of Creative Reuse.
ICM Creative, which specialises in brand creation and design for the manufacturing, automotive, healthcare and leisure industries, has moved into a suite in the 16,000 sq ft of refurbished Grade A office space at the Mending Rooms.
Commenting on the move, ICM account director Caroline Murray said: “We are thrilled to become a part of this vibrant creative space in the Yorkshire village of Farsley.
“The newly refurbished office will allow ICM to grow and expand and provides our team (existing and future) with an exciting place to work.”
Arts project SCRAP Centre of Creative Reuse has also signed on for a further five years at the site, providing creative workshops and training in repurposing discarded materials from its store in the Spinning Mill.
The mill, which has featured in TV soap Emmerdale and drama series Heartbeat and has been transformed into a business complex, is owned by real estate firm Edwin Woodhouse led by cousins John and William Gaunt.
Louise Lucas of SCRAP explained: “We are so happy to have recently signed a new five year lease with Sunnybank Mills and look forward to working with William and John over the next five years.
“Right from the start William and John have been fully supportive and shared our vision of bringing a community focused social enterprise to the Mill, and that means a great deal to a small social enterprise like us.”
John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, added: “These two deals underline the versatility and flexibility of space at Sunny Bank Mills, which is attracting an exciting breadth of occupiers.
“They also illustrate the strength of the Yorkshire economy, with both companies having the confidence to commit their future to us at Sunny Bank Mills.”
