PM commends Mastek’s contribution to UK tech at 10 Downing Street
Mastek recognised for its £12-million investment in next generation of tech natives.
Mastek Ltd a leading enterprise digital transformation provider, has this month attended the Force for Good reception, hosted by the Prime Minister at 10 Downing street to celebrate the UKs Tech Sector.
As part of its £12 million-pound investment into a new digital skills programme for graduates looking to progress a career in tech, Mastek’s CEO, John Owen was amongst a select group of key figures from the UK tech industry, including leading politicians, entrepreneurs and innovators from across the country, invited to celebrate the positive impact the growing technology industry has had on the nation’s economy and society.
John Owen, CEO at Mastek said, “This is an exciting time for Mastek and we are thrilled to be recognised for our work in the industry. We are proud to be part of a sector that is making such a major contribution to the UK as a whole – one that is helping the tech innovators of tomorrow to gain key skills that are vital for the continued growth of the industry.”
Mastek’s multi-million-pound investment, driven by business growth and customer needs, comes as part of a wider initiative for other businesses to address the skills shortage by training and investing in people where the demand for high-level skills in sectors such as engineering, technology, digital, and manufacturing continues to increase.
Fuelled by the company’s passion to improve the opportunities available in IT, Mastek established a Graduate Development Programme in 2018 with the aim to create and nurture the next generation of tech natives. The success of the programme has enabled Mastek to take on 50 graduates this year with plans to double that number to 100 graduates in 2020.
Mastek grew by just under 30% last year and has now delivered 13 consecutive quarters of growth and is anticipating even stronger business success this year. As part of its values, Mastek believes it is the right thing to invest in the next generation to build the digital workforce of the future, with plans to create 200 jobs through the graduate scheme alone towards the end of 2021. Following this, Mastek also employed 250 new people last year, sparking ambitious plans for new investment in the IT industry over the next four years.
