SV24 development set to boost Hartlepool student quarter
A new ‘student village’ in Hartlepool’s student quarter is expected to provide a boost to Hartlepool and its student population.
The directors of beauty and haircare distributor Advanced Retail Solutions are redeveloping their newly acquired acre of land - inclusive of the former Engineers Club - into a purpose-built student village, known as SV24.
Rob Collier & John Wood MBE are planning to capitalise on the success of their newly refurbished Advanced House headquarters and commercial space by investing in the student village project.
Comprising 184 student apartments, the student village will be situated within walking distance of the Northern School of Art and Hartlepool College of Further Education. The multi-million pound development will also include gated access, key-fob entry, CCTV and 24hr security.
Building work is expected to commence on SV24 within the next few months, with completion expected by December 2020.
Rob Collier, MD of Advanced Retail Solutions Ltd, commented: “It’s vital to the continued growth of the local economy to invest the fruits of your success back into your home town via not only employment opportunities, but through community engagement and regeneration.
“Investing in education is key to that development to not only develop and retain home grown skills, but to attract leading minds from outside of our community to expand our economy further.”
Darren Hankey, principal of Hartlepool College of Further Education, added, “The plans for SV24, state-of-the-art student accommodation in the heart of Hartlepool town centre, are superb!
He added: “For Hartlepool College of Further Education, SV24 provides the opportunity for expanding the College’s offer in terms of attracting overseas students, higher education students as well as commercial opportunities such as conferencing.”
