Well known Sanderson Young estate agent retires after 49 years

Elaine Newbigin, a branch manager at independent North East estate agent Sanderson Young, has retired from the agency, and industry, after nearly 50 years of service.

Elaine started her career in 1970 working for Storey Sons & Parker and joined Sanderson Young as the branch manager of the Ponteland office in 2002.

Duncan Young, chairman of Sanderson Young, said: “Elaine has been a formidable and renowned character within the estate agency world, both in Newcastle in the early days and then over the last 20 years in the village of Ponteland and surrounding areas. Her professionalism, expertise and passion for the sector has been second to none.

“She’s particularly well known in Ponteland itself and has been a great character within the community, involving herself heavily in the local sports scene and rugby clubs with her husband Keith and their three boys.

“We wish her a very fond farewell and she leaves with a tremendous amount of thanks, appreciation and sincere wishes from all of us here at Sanderson Young.”

Penny Wright, Sanderson Young’s valuation manager, will be managing the Ponteland office moving forwards. Penny has vast experience in the property sector and is highly regarded across the North East.

Duncan added: “Under Penny’s management and guidance, the Ponteland area and surrounding villages will continue to receive professional expertise, and high-quality homes, from a company which is very well known within this location.

“It’s an exciting time for us as we continue to evolve and adapt to new challenges, and the ever-changing property marketplace.”
