Northumberland bookseller turns page with new Ouseburn shop
A Northumberland independent bookseller has launched a new store in a prominent gallery in Newcastle.
Corbridge-based Forum Books has unveiled its new shop within The Biscuit Factory in the Ouseburn area of the city.
The art and design gallery, which was formerly a Victorian warehouse, will house the new book shop, which will be open every day throughout the summer.
Helen Stanton, owner of Forum Books, commented: “We’re more than a bit thrilled to extend our collaboration with The Biscuit Factory to a summer-long pop up bookshop in the gallery, bringing the art of bookselling to Ouseburn and Newcastle.”
Formerly a hub of industry for the city, Ouseburn is has become a creative quarter for independent businesses, as well as housing a growing student community.
Rachel Brown, general manager of The Biscuit Factory, added: “It’s a delight to have Forum Books in the gallery.
“We’re proud to support a local business, to have another independent retailer in the Ouseburn and to add to our visitors’ experience, with an eclectic mix of titles, author talks and book events.”
