Ocado Technology launches first London development centre
Ocado Technology has announced the opening of its first London development centre to support the company’s ongoing growth.
Based in Old Street, the development centre will support the growing demand for the firm’s Ocado Smart Platform (OSP), which has been increasingly adopted by retailers around the world.
OSP, which aims to enable retailers to do online grocery profitably, sustainably and scalably, will be developed in the centre using AI, machine learning, big data and cloud platforms technology.
London is the firm’s sixth development centre to launch, with Ocado Technology hubs already open in Hatfield (UK), Sofia (Bulgaria), Wroclaw and Krakow (Poland), and Barcelona (Spain).
The firm anticipates that up to 300 software engineers, data scientists, UX designers, researchers and product managers will be based in the new centre, with 40 professionals to be based there initially.
James Matthews, CEO of Ocado Technology, commented: “We’re excited to be expanding our network of development hubs into London, a city renowned for being at the forefront of tech innovation and home to many talented technologists.
“As we are growing rapidly, we are always on the lookout for people who share our drive to innovate. This London hub joins our network of development centres to offer exciting employment opportunities for ambitious, tech-savvy individuals.”
