Plans for new £15m Newcastle housing development unveiled

Plans for a £15m residential development in a growing area of Newcastle have been unveiled by a local developer.

Property firm Jomast has revealed proposals for a new residential scheme in Jesmond, on the site of the former Quaker Meeting House following its demolition last year.

Comprising around 85 apartments with doorstep gardens and terraces, as well as communal rooftop gardens with panoramic views, the proposed 12- and 18- storey buildings will also offer units on the lower floors for commercial and leisure uses.

Taking place alongside the transformation of Sandyford House into apartments, the development will complement the area’s existing Jesmond Three Sixty mixed-use scheme, which includes homes, office space, bar and restaurant units and leisure amenities.

Jomast’s development director, Adam Hearld, commented: “This proposal will create an impressive residential development and complete the highly successful Jesmond Three Sixty scheme.

“It will create a landmark development which demonstrates that Newcastle is the ambitious and forward-thinking capital of the North East region, with aspirations for growth, reflected in high-quality and ambitious architecture.”
