Sydney Mitchell Peaky Climbers raise almost £2000 for Midlands Charities
A group of intrepid climbers from Sydney Mitchell and friends tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for charity raising almost £2000 for Midlands Charities; the Buddy Bag Foundation and Age UK Solihull. Monies are still coming in.
The Peaky Climbers were Hayley-Jo Lockley, Emma-Louise Hewitt and Gemma Parker, Chloe Bolton from Sydney Mitchell and two friends, Jennifer Robinson and Kirsty O’Reilly.
The team of six took off in the early hours of Saturday morning from Chapel Le Dale with a target of 12 hours to beat. Overcoming a series of hurdles, including broken laces, sheep and cows on route and a water stop with no water; they completed their goal in 11hrs 45 minutes.
Emma-Louise and Hayley-Jo, Sydney Mitchell, commented:
“The hills were a lot higher and steeper than they looked, at points we had to clamber on all fours to reach the summit. We are proud of all the team and thank our sponsors very much, both at work as well as family and friends, for their generous support. It is a great feeling to be able to help two worthy Midlands Charities.”
Karen Moores, Sydney Mitchell Senior Partner, commented:
“What an achievement by all. It is great to see so much support for two local charities and what a fantastic amount raised.”
Karen Williams, Founder of the Buddy Bag Foundation, said:
“Thank you to all in the Sydney Mitchell team for their outstanding achievement and well done for achieving such a great goal. We would not be able to function without the generous support from our sponsors and fundraisers.”
Lorraine Hart, Fundraising Manager for Age UK Solihull, showed her appreciation of all climbers:
“We are so grateful to the team at Sydney Mitchell for their fantastic achievement. We are proud to be able to help our older people in Solihull and Age UK Solihull would not be able to do this without the outstanding support of our fundraisers in the local community.”
