Jo Gets on Her Bike!
Committed runner, Jo Bailey, from Congleton, swapped her trainers for pedals when she took on the 185-mile coast to coast bike ride in aid of Christies.
As Jo explained, “I love running and I’ve run quite a few half-marathons to raise money for a number of different charities, then a friend asked me to do the coast to coast bike ride to raise funds for a new Christie cancer treatment centre, which will be able to treat more than1,500 new patients a year and will be in Macclesfield”.
“Something so local, which will benefit so many people, meant I just had to pull on my cycling shorts and give it a go”, added Jo!
The Christie charity is aiming to raise £23 million for the construction of a new cancer centre in Macclesfield, to allow patients to receive the same outstanding care, just closer to home and cutting down on what can be gruelling travelling times.
Jo, did her bit, completing the 185-mile ride, supported by Swansway Motor Group, where she’s the Group’s Financial Controller, as she explained, “I’m really fortunate that Swansway supports every employee, in every fund-raising event they take part in, which means that all the charities I support get a donation every time I take part in an event, which is absolutely great”.
Having got her breath back, Jo is already looking around for her next challenge; she’s pictured here on the right of the team wearing the bright blue shirt.
