Sheffield dealership joins national electric vehicle scheme

A dealership in Sheffield is one of the first in the UK to be awarded Electric Vehicle Approved accreditation.

Volkswagen Sheffield, which is part of the JCT600 dealership group, is one of 24 sites across the country to be made part of the government-approved Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) scheme following an independent audit by the Energy Savings Trust.

The scheme, which was developed by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) and endorsed by the government’s office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), aims to provide a set of standards for EV retail and aftersales to ensure there is uniformity across the automotive industry.

The news comes as electric vehicles gain more popularity across the UK, and follows the government’s announcement earlier this month to invest £37m into electric vehicle infrastructure.

Chris Moriarty, head of business at JCT600 Volkswagen Sheffield, commented: “It’s a massive point of pride for Volkswagen Sheffield to be part of the first wave of accreditations, and it’s a credit to the expertise and knowledge of the team here at Sheffield.

“We’re constantly trying to be the best in our sector, and being recognised as an EVA-approved dealership is a crucial step in the journey to being the best EV retailer we can be.”
