Skilled and experienced care professional to lead the team at new Deanston House facility

Deanston House Limited (part of the Enhanced Community Healthcare Options Group – ECHO) is announcing the appointment of a highly skilled and experienced, care professional to lead the team at its new care facility, Deanston House, a specialist Care Home with Nursing in Doune, Stirlingshire.

Andrea McGuire brings with her more than 25 years’ experience in the health, social care and Independent living sectors, having qualified as a Learning Disability Nurse in 1994. She has worked with both adults and children with complex needs and led multi-disciplinary teams.

At the beginning of her career, Andrea had primarily been based in the Midlands and in 2005 qualified as a Specialist Practitioner. Following a move up to Orkney Andrea moved into the third sector and took up her first Registered Manager post for Enable Scotland.

Following a recent move to Powmill, Andrea began working in Dunblane when she was contacted about the exciting opportunity at Deanston House

Andrea said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as manager at Deanston House. It’s a wonderful building with a lot of history, and it’s fantastic to see it coming back to life”.

“Our team will be supporting residents with Learning Disabilities and other complex needs. Often services have not been able to meet the needs of our proposed Service User group, so it is really important that we aim to be one of the best care providers in Scotland.

“Deanston House is set very close to the village of Doune and our residents will enjoy visiting the nearby village regularly. It is essential when someone is living with a learning disability that they can do so in a calming atmosphere with plenty of access to the community for support.”

Deanston House is a 19th century, category B listed, country manor which has been converted into a Care Home designed to provide residential care for individuals over the age of 18, and who have a Learning Disability and complex needs, such as an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, a mental health condition, sensory impairment or physical disability.

Andrew Shelton Murray, Director of ECHO, said: “Andrea is an exceptional care provider and a well-respected, experienced leader of multi-disciplinary teams.

“The specialist care that will be on offer at Deanston House will help to support a number of people living with Learning Disabilities and complex needs to have an improved quality of life and to become as independent as possible.”

Andrea concluded: “We are recruiting a skilled and exceptionally talented nursing and support workers and we will be ready to accept our first four clients when Deanston House opens in early August.”
