From Monaco to Marbella: The Newcastle brand making waves in the luxury maritime sector

A Newcastle-based family company specialising in maritime brands has launched a new division and brand.

Solarglide, based at Hoults Yard in Byker, sells protective products to cruise ships, commercial and naval vessels worldwide. Its new brand, Pearl Pacific, has been launched, which consists of window blinds for yachts.

Founder and managing director Paul Pringle is the fourth generation of his family to work in the ship-building industry. Together with his dad Mike, who is CEO, he said: “The Pearl Pacific ranges have been 18 months in development and have been a real labour of love.

“[It combines] beautiful styles and finishes with an understanding of maritime design and construction and the quick turnaround required by builders and fitters.”

With its marine design and project team, Pearl Pacific offers new-build yacht builders and owners a tailored service with several styles.

Paul added: “It was a natural next step for us. Since launching in a small office in 2008, we have become a leading player in marine window treatments for the commercial sector.

“We have expanded and moved into our premises in Hoults Yard where we are proud to maintain our links with the historically sea-faring city of Newcastle.

“The new division of the company moves us forward into a new market place and reinforces our family tradition of being involved in the maritime sector which I am very proud of.”
