Abseil Takes Fundraising to New Heights
A brave team member from H. H. Birch Co-op Funeralcare in Shipley has taken part in a charity abseil to raise money for Candlelighters.
Stephanie Hickman, completed the 60ft abseil down the Michael Sandler Building at Leeds University, raising £200 in the process.
David Robertshaw, Funeral Director at H. H Birch Co-op Funeralcare, says; “The team are so proud of Stephanie, not all of us would be that brave and have the nerves of steel needed to complete the task. I’m sure it was a nerve-racking experience, but Stephanie handled herself like a complete pro and raised a fantastic amount of money for a really worthy cause in the process.”
Stephanie Hickman, Funeral Arranger at H. H Birch Co-op Funeralcare, comments: “As a team we’re always looking for ways to support good causes and when the Candlelighters newsletter popped through the door promoting the opportunity to do the abseil it really caught my eye. The building in question was where I studied at university so it seemed like a real calling for me to do it!
“I’m really pleased I had the opportunity to complete the challenge,” continues Stephanie. “Candlelighters is such a worthy cause and I’m thrilled people supported me so generously, I know the money will make a real difference.”
