Law firm strengthens property services
Leading West Midlands law firm Higgs & Sons is celebrating the continued growth of its specialist construction team one year on. Headed up by Partner Rachael Hobbis, the team - which provides specialist advice in respect of all aspects of construction projects from procurement and financing through to dispute resolution - has seen the addition of Dispute Resolution lawyers, Adam Thompson and Alice Eastwood. Rachael said: “The Higgs & Sons construction team has proven to be a valuable service offering to one of the leading providers of commercial property and dispute resolution advice in the region. “The team has been involved with some notable projects such as assisting a large housebuilder client contract with a modular manufacturer for the supply of modular housing, as well as assisting a sub-contractor to settle claims for monies owed to it which ran to the millions.” Associate Adam Thompson trained with Higgs and specialises in construction contract dispute resolution with an emphasis on adjudication. Alice Eastwood also trained with Higgs and now works alongside Rachael and the wider unified property team supporting clients with all manner of construction related contracts. Rachael added: “It is an exciting time for the team which continues to go from strength to strength. The team offers a great depth of expertise acting for a range of clients from sole traders to major national corporations across a variety of sectors including manufacturing, retail, leisure, banking, healthcare and of course, construction.” Head of Property at Higgs & Sons, Cherry Elliott, added: “The recruitment of Rachael and development of the construction team is proving to be a great success and a vital addition to our Property Development offering.” Julia Lowe, who heads Higgs’ Dispute Resolution department, added: “Our specialist construction team is another example of how we work holistically to assist clients across the entire lifecycle of a project. “It will be exciting to see what the next 12 months will bring for the team, building on what has been a fantastic first year.” Rachael and Adam are both actively involved in the relaunch of the Black Country Constructing Excellence Club. Higgs & Sons is one of the Midlands’ leading law firms and is headquartered at the Waterfront Business Park in the heart of the Black Country. A modern, forward thinking practice which employs more than 230 people offering a wide range of legal services, Higgs is proud of its heritage and remains true to its client centred value and a commitment to quality.
