Job vacancies up 15% across the South West
Permanent professional vacancies increased 15% across the South West year-on-year in June 2019. That is according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).
The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals science & technology vacancies in the South West increased by 34%. Demand for talent in IT also showed significant signs of growth, with job openings increasing by 26%. Hiring activity in the legal sector was also notable, up by 11%.
Commenting on the data, Julie Selby, Regional Account Manager at APSCo said:
“It’s fantastic to see a rise in job openings across all sectors. The science & technology field is particularly strong right now thanks to the dedicated professionals working hard to establish the region as a key area of growth. There are many exciting and revolutionary things happening at the moment. For example, a new £100 million institute, based in the centre of Bristol, is set to transform the way we create, utilise and evaluate new digital technologies to benefit our society now and in the future. This will inevitably drive demand for highly-skilled workers in the coming months and years.”
“Growth has also been significant in the legal sector and this is likely the result of the many fantastic law firms collectively making noise to attract talent and develop their businesses. For example, TLT was re-nominated for Corporate Law Firm of the Year at the South West Dealmakers Awards 2019, having taken home the title last year. TLT’s corporate team continued to grow across the UK, and the Bristol team is recognised as one of the largest, most experienced and forward-thinking firms in the region, boosting figures for job openings.”
