Job vacancies up 17% across the East Midlands
Professional vacancies increased 17% across the East Midlands year-on-year in June 2019. That is according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).
The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals that permanent vacancies for IT professionals rose by 29% during the same period. Contract banking & insurance job openings increased by 26%, which is considerably higher than the average.
Commenting on the data, Julie Selby, Regional Account Manager at APSCo said:
“It’s fantastic to see an overall rise in hiring activity. It’s certainly no surprise that demand for IT professionals is so high, as the East Midlands has developed a reputation as a key tech hotspot. According to RSM, the number of new tech companies being set up in the region rose by 22%. There were 345 new software development and programming businesses in 2017, and by 2018, the number rose to 422. This growth in IT firms is one of the contributing factors driving demand for professionals in the sector.”
