Job vacancies up 24% across the South East
Permanent professional vacancies increased 24% across the South East year-on-year in June 2019. That is according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).
The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals that vacancies for professional banking & insurance contractors in the South East increased by 31%. Demand was also notably strong in the IT sector, with roles increasing by 29% over the same period.
Commenting on the data, Rina Durban, Membership Relations Manager at APSCo said:
“It’s great to see that job openings are increasing in the South East. Banking & insurance is leading the way for vacancy growth, and that’s likely because the region has historically had an established financial services sector which is being strengthened by an increase of firms deciding to relocate or expand outside the capital. Some of the world’s biggest companies run crucial operations out of Milton Keynes. Santander for example, has teams working in a contact centre, and other key functions like marketing, finance and risk in the town, employing more than 4,000 staff. One of Europe’s largest accounting firms, Mazars, meanwhile, has been operating a central regional office in the area for more than 30 years, recently expanding to 170 staff. Against this backdrop, it is little wonder that demand for professionals continues to increase.”
