Work begins on major Sheffield area housing development

WORK has now begun on the latest development from South Yorkshire development company BIG City Co.

Chapel Waters is a multi-million pound residential development in the village of Rhodesia, between Sheffield and Worksop.

The previously undeveloped 10 acre greenfield site located off the A57 is BIG City Co’s second site, with 111 new homes, including 55 bungalows and 56 family homes.

The project will provide a sensitive design driven housing development based on a series of one, two and three bed single-level homes catering for down sizers.

The development also includes a series of two, three and four bedroom family homes complete with a new sustainable urban drainage system culminating in a pond and public open space.

The design driven soft contemporary development echoes the Bassetlaw style of pan tiled roofs blended with brick, stone and painted brickwork to create a truly unique new community, all centred around a new sustainable urban drainage pond and wild scale.

The scheme, funded by ASG Money PLC, is being delivered by Broadfield Project Management and designed by Architects CODA Studios - sales will be dealt with by Sheffield agency Redbrik.

BIG City Co was founded by David Cross, Chairman of CODA Studios, Stewart Davies and Anthony Cundall of Barnsley energy specialist A Shade Greener - which is providing vital funding - and financial expert Ian Hart of ASG Money.   Over the past three years, the team has brought forward thousands of residential units as architects, developers and investors in communities across the UK, working positively and successfully with local authorities and communities.

This is BIG City’s second development, following the start of work earlier this year on the Jacques Orchard development of 31 bungalows in the Derbyshire community of South Normanton, also marketed by Redbrik. BIG City aims specifically to fill the ‘missing-middle’ of the housing market by delivering starter homes, bungalows and urban regeneration.

Ian Hart commented: “BIG City has recognised that bungalow living is a massive market in this region and is actively seeking new sites to enhance our portfolio now these first two developments are under way.”
